I know I’m a talented writer since I was a secondary school lad after losing at a quiz competition at a particular round having been privileged to represent the school.

I wrote an article to comfort myself of the failure to get to the final round. A colleague was later privileged to read the article and was almost in tears as the style of writing my thoughts with the creativity dazed her.

I have a dream to become one of the best selling author who will influence the globe through writing with proven track records but I came to the understanding that my first step to see this dream fulfilled is to do add qualities and virtues to my talent. I made up my mind that in fulfilling this dreams, I have to write not only has a hobby but also as a profession.

I have met many talented writers who are yet to successfully write a book not because of lack of resources but failure in commitment to it while I have seen many untalented writers with quite a number of books in book stores yet people are being blessed by their books.

I have met dynamic young people with unique oratory skills and thought provoking mind sets but the peak of them displaying this prowess is only in a dialogue or conversation because they never see to the necessity of being committed to get results with what they have while I have seen people with poor mannerism of communication taking the lead on air and events with thousands listening to them.

Take a moment to consider those your secondary school folks who have enviable talents and are gifted in one thing or the other but you are yet to see them get tangible results from it or hear about their milestones with such prospects while the claimed “write offs” are doing something productive with their lives.

Consider that old man in your street endowed with a noticeable distinct trait but can’t account for success achieved with such expertise over time.

Haven’t you known people who should have risen to the top but didn’t?

Haven’t you known people who had all the talent they should ever need but didn’t succeed?

Why is it that the most influential people in the world are not often the most talented?

Yes! Talent makes you stand out, get you noticed, separate you from others and gives you an edge over others. Remember, talent doesn’t guarantee an end, it only gives a prepared launching pad to begin a conquest. You have to keep working on that talent until it produces tangible and provable results, otherwise, people would end up despising it.

Talented people mostly have the desire for others to recognize their expertise but overlook their deficiencies such as inconsistency and lack of commitment.

The advantage talent gives a man is temporal. If talent is not consistently worked upon, it becomes a story to be told someday.

Talent is like the edge an athlete get to discover on the lane to start a race when he is positioned ahead of others. He has to understand when he starts the race that there are bendings and curves ahead on the lane that can make those behind him to catch up and overtake him if he is not committed to keep the pace to stay ahead of others.

That he is placed ahead of others to start the race doesn’t guarantee him staying ahead of others during that race and winning the race.

Many talented people started with an advantage over others but lose the advantage because they rely too much on their talent instead of working on it to produce their success. They assume that talent will always keep them in front of others.

Hard to believe that if some folks never had special talent or had the understanding of their unique gift, they would have been diligent and be successful in different conquests..

I’m not against talents with this article because I also have talents too and it’s giving me an edge in some areas of life but it’s better to be a “talent-plus personality”. Add to that talent.

Don’t feel successful by the millions in my account, the property you would acquire or have acquired, the number nations you would visit or have visited, times you appear on the T.V or would appear on the headlines of the dailies, numbers of people that knows your name, what Wikipedia has to say about you or posters of you across the globe. All these can be achieved so cheap even by irresponsible acts.

Rate your success by:

How you have been able to effectively harness all the potentials God has embedded in you with proven results.

How you have made life convenient for the earth’s populace even when you go through the rigours on behave of mankind.

How much of you humanity have benefitted from.

How you have made investments in yourself to make virtues and values readily available for others to draw from.

How you have helped others to avoid the pains, neglects and failures you went through.

How your prowess and expertise have been solutions to societal and global ills.

How you have helped others, young and old to be where you are and even better than you faster than you could have done.

How people have smiled in situations where you once cried and almost gave up.

Be responsible to this “HOWS” and work tirelessly daily to see it accomplished. Take a moment, reflect on areas you need to give more attention

I believe in your future and in the reality of your dreams.

For the love of Revival, Spiritual Reawakening and Global Revolution

“If I am successful that means I should serve you and help you to come up to where I am” – Sunday Adelaja.

May I never get to the climax that will make me despise the people around me. No matter where I’m now or where I would be years to come, may I continue to be conscious of the fact that some people’s contributions in one way or the other gave me a leap. Some by their words, books, prayers, encouragement, criticisms and love.

I’m conscious of the contributions of my parent, siblings, mentors, friends of like passions and foes. How can I forget the prayers of my mum, the beautiful smiles of my younger sister, fellowships with men of like passion and critisms that takes me back to my table to accelerate my motion?

I don’t want to feel successful by the millions in my account, the property I would acquire, the nations I have visited, times I appear on the T.V, numbers of people that knows my name, what Wikipedia has to say about me or posters of me across the globe. All these can be achieved so cheap even by irresponsible acts.

I want to rate my success by:

How I have been able to effectively harness all the potentials God has embedded in me with proven results.

How I have made life convenient for the earth’s populace even when I go through the rigours on behave of mankind.

How much of me that humanity have benefitted from.

How I have made investments in myself to make virtues and values readily available for others to draw from.

How I have helped others to avoid the pains, neglects and failures I went through.

How my prowess and expertise has been solutions to global ills.

How I have helped others, young and old to be where I am and even better than me faster than I could have done.

How people have smiled in situations where I once cried and almost gave up.

I’m responsible to this “HOWS” and working tirelessly daily to see it accomplished.

Please if you see me soon on your T.V screen spearheading protests against ungodliness and decadences in nations, don’t join others to say I have lost my prayer life neither did I backside.

If you hear on the your radio that I have been arrested for taking actions for global transformation in any quota, please don’t say God is punishing me for my sin. If it would cost me that being a convict, it’s worth it.

If you read on the dailies that I was shot dead for refusing to sign documents that would cause my children and the coming generation  to exalt immorality as a norm; don’t cry, rejoice because I happy to stand for such legacy in expense of my life.

I have made up my mind to fight impunity, ungodliness and decadence with my last blood. I have been preparing myself, reading, praying, fasting, writing, protesting, taking actions and so on till Revival, Spiritual Re-awakening and Global Revolution becomes a reality and the way of life of the people around me.

I don’t care how many people are with me neither do I give the thoughts of others against me a concern. What has eaten me up has done so much to me that I have no room to accommodate the neglects and beefs of others.

I was taught never to leave a place without everybody there feeling a vacuum, but this assertion wasn’t understood often as it’s intended.

Maybe you left an office and the one who took over after you was a mess. Sir, just believe you had no legacy.

Having relinquished power to your successor, if you’re still the one acting in duty capacity, it’s conspicuous that you can’t build an empire that will abide.

My heart bled looking back to ‘one’ of the places I left behind in furtherance of life vision and pressing for the high calling, as I still have to be in charge of affairs from a far distance.

Some said to me, your departure was looking like extinction of this course. In admiration they said I’ve stood the ground that history cannot forget.

But little do they know that there cannot be any positive history if there is no continuity.

Excuse Sir, stop rejoicing that they are saying your kind is rare simply because you left no replica. It is a simple way of describing you a failure.

Success without successors is a FAILURE!

If we leave any office and we are unable to have better, brighter and stronger successors in numbers, we are just like a serpent crossing a rocky ground without any mark.

They may celebrate us, they may even give us awards, but the euphoria cannot last long, because the platform is on voyage to extinction.

They may even call us the game changer, but we are only visionless game players in action.

Am not writing for comments or likes, am sharing a burden that’s paining me right away.

Of what use is our labours, self denial and sacrifices if it won’t be passed to another generation? Ending with us alone, then we’ve existed for ourselves without a memorial.

Jesus Christ raised twelve rugged crux men (special squads) among the multitudes. Today billions are adherents to the same faith planted over 2000 years ago.

Checking all the pioneers of various school of thoughts, many of them lived briefly in the 18th century or after. We quote them till date, even after several reformations.

Little wonder why medieval philosophy is still relevant hitherto.

Any vision that cannot outlive the visioneer is an illusion, misapprehension or at best an ambition.

If you have failed like myself along this line, pls resolve like me never to repeat such a mistake again.

Temporal impacts is viewed as an accidental accomplishment by grandeurs. Only long live is a test of deliberate accomplishment.

In a nutshell, as we contribute our quotas to any course of action at all, we should take it so seriously to build those who can carry on beyond where we’d stop.

We need to look back and thank God for the better ones coming behind us who by recognition will herald aloud that; “they are who they are because of those who came before them”.

In this shall your joy be multiplied!

The platform on which you’re standing now is another chance to either rewrite your own history with proper editing or you allow indifference to write it for you later on.

Excellence is the greatest deterrent for racism and sexism – Oprah Winfrey.

There is a syndrome of internal competition with our fellow contemporarirs, such an one that often engender strife i.e; in schools for grades, churches for leadership, organisations for directorate, politics for positions and interpersonally for recognition among others.

The resulted conflicts have done much harm than good to our national development, personal fulfillment and peaceful coexistence all along.

Few years ago, a typical Nigerian undergraduate precisely from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State Nigeria(a school that’s not known across the host nation), was said to have been invited to address youths in one European/Asian country.

Just last week, Funke Alakija (Richest African woman) delivered a lecture in Harvard University.

Bishop David Oyedepo was invited few years ago to come and preach in Israel during an historical maiden celebration of “The city of David”, transmitted live in tens of nations. This is a man from Kwara State (where Bukola Saraki the incumbent Senate president hailed from also).

Pastor E. A Adeboye, was rated among the first Fifty (50) most powerful people in the world some years back and he’s a native and inhabitant of the “fantastically corrupt” Nation so to say.

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala (a woman), has written her name in the sand of time in the economic world, (banking to be precise) with track records in Harvard varsity and World Bank.

I decided to mention Nigerians only for reasons.

I see a cynical rat race of vanity in everywhere I have stayed or served (corporate organization, Union, Church, Voluntary organization, Clubs) and so on which is heightening as a concern to me even now.

We see others ahead of us as hindrances on our ways.

We see people doing better in our field of endeavors as threats.

We view budding subordinates as competitors.

We see relatives soaring as overambitious.

We feel agitated when someone is sharing his own “big dreams” or testimonies.

Sometimes, we return to slanders, defamation of Characters and libel on diverse media, especially social media to bring others down.

Some even make attempt to poison their boss, some politicians even murdered their opponents, Some people even consult their villages for diabolical manipulation of other people’s destiny just for the sake ‘myself, I and Me” factor.

Excuse me Sir, hear me Ma;

Nobody’s success is the reason for our failures.

Nobody’s excellence is our excuse for mediocrity.

Nobody’s wellbeing is responsible for our own poverty and frustration.

Nobody’s manifestation is the coverage of our own glory, (only that stars differ in glory, some will just be outstanding. However, none of our five fingers is inconsequential despite their inequalities).

The problem is just that, we’ve not been able to withstand and surmount seeming mountains and subdue them from our own end.

Can you imagine the number of pastors demonstrating God’s glory concurrently across the nations of the earth?

Can you imagine the number of Business Men making wave in the same generation, same time?

Is it not amazing how many People are called stars in Sports, music and films production at the same time?

Why then are we configured to accept the misconstrued approach of our political systems as being normal?
If you follow Nigeria politics, you’ll see how the future of the citizenry is being streamlined for selfishness sake.

Finally, I beseech you by the mercy of God, that you run your own race in life with your focus on God and substitution with improved method simultaneously, rather than by elimination of contemporaries’ image or lives.

1 Corinthians 9:24
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

As a counsellor I will like to give you some breaking limits advices, they are angelic keys of actions you will use to find strength when things seems wrong.

Firstly, Fully accept the reality of what is.

You cannot find peace by avoiding life. Life spins with unexpected changes every hour, you can attest to this ursef by our life experience over the years; so instead of avoiding it, take every change and experience as a challenge for growth. Either it will give you what you want or it will teach you what the next step is.

Secondly, Remind yourself that everything in life is temporary.

Every time it rains, it stops raining. Every time you get hurt, you heal. After darkness there is always light, you are reminded of this every morning, but still you often forget, and instead choose to believe that the night will go on forever. It won’t. Nothing lasts.

So if things are good right now, enjoy it. It won’t last forever. If things are bad, don’t worry because it won’t last forever either. Just because life isn’t easy at the moment, doesn’t mean you can’t laugh. Just because something is bothering you, doesn’t mean you can’t smile. Every moment gives you a new beginning and a new ending. You get a second chance, every second. You just have to take it and make the best of it.

Thirdly, Push yourself to take another step, and another, no matter what.

After studying the lives of many successful people , I’m convinced that about half of what separates successful people from everyone else is pure perseverance. In a culture that seeks quick results, we must learn the beauty of effort, patience and perseverance. Be strong, present and steadfast.

The most beautiful smiles are usually the ones that struggled through the tears. Because breakdowns often lead to breakthroughs in the end. Every mistake, heartbreak and loss contains its own solution, its own subtle lesson on how to improve your performance and outcome next time. Thus, the most reliable way to predict the future is to create it yourself. Participate in life today instead of just watching it pass you by. Don’t let the few things that are out of your control interfere with the infinite assortment of things you can control.

The truth is we all lose sometimes. The greater truth is that no single loss ever defines us. Learn from your trials. Grow wiser. Press on.

In the end, good things don’t come to those who wait; good things come to those who are patient… while working hard, through good times and bad, for what they want most in life. It’s about courage. It’s about being scared to death and then taking the next step anyway.

Fourthly, Focus on making tiny fixes.

Don’t build mountains in your mind. Don’t try to conquer the world all at once. When you seek instant gratification (big, quick fixes) you make life unnecessarily painful and frustrating. When you choose instead to treat each moment as an opportunity to make a tiny, positive investment in yourself, the rewards come naturally.

When everything is broken, it’s easy to find plenty of little things you can fix. When nothing seems to be going right, even the most fundamental positive effort can make a significant difference.

Small steps, little leaps, and tiny fixes (very small repetitive changes) every day will get you there, through thick and thin.

Furthermore, I want you to Look for something small to appreciate.

You may not have what you want, and you may be very hurt, but you still have more than enough to appreciate right now . Epicurus once said, “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” Meditate on this quote when life seems unfair.

At the end of the day, it’s not happiness that makes us thankful, but thankfulness that makes us happy. Showing appreciation for the good things you have is the most powerful happiness boosting activity there is.

Lastly, Give yourself the extra attention you need and deserve.

It’s not your job to change who you are in order to become someone else’s idea of a worthwhile human being. You are worthwhile. Not because other people think you are, but because you are breathing your own air, and therefore you matter. Your thoughts matter. Your feelings matter. Your voice matters. And with or without anyone’s approval or permission, you must be who you are and live your truth. Even if it makes people turn their heads. Even if it makes them uncomfortable. Even if they choose to leave.

Refuse to shrink. Choose to take up lot of space in your own life. Choose to give yourself permission to meet your own needs. Choose to honor your feelings and emotions. Choose to make self-care a top priority…

I can tell you from my own life experience that life is a wild ride. I’ve found happiness, lost it, found it, lost it and then I found it once again. But each time what I found was more incredible than the last.

So remember that everyone suffers in life at some point. Everyone feels lost sometimes. The key is using your experiences to grow, inch by inch. When you apply what you’re learning to your future choices and actions, you move forward not backward. You become stronger and wiser. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it in the end.

There is a destiny which makes us brothers; none goes his way alone.

Any time any day, if you are broken down, I WILL ALWAYS help your boat across to reach your own shore.

What will you want to be in life, successful or significant? We are living in a time when everyone fights hard to be successful. They have so much visions and goals that are usually very self-centered, me, I and my family.

When you find yourself thinking about only how you can be successful. When you are only driven to hard work by the kind of car you want to ride, the kind of house you want to live in, the brand of cloths you want to wear etc. when all your life is all about you and you alone, then you are a child.

It really does not matter how old you are. Maturity does not come by the number of years you have lived on earth. There are 40-50yrs old men/women who still act and behave like 2year olds. And there are 15-25yrs old men/women who behave like 50-60year olds.

When everything you pursue in life is only about your own good, without the thoughts of how you can better the life of other people living around you, then you are living the lowest form of life. It is very possible that you will be successful but you can never be significant.

For you to be significant in life, you have to begin to live for others, which is the higher life. A life worth living is a life lived for others, a life lived for a greater course, a life lived for a greater purpose. It is the selfless life.

This one thing you must know though. It is very important to be successful which is, adding value to yourself in order to be significant which is, adding value to others. It is very possible to be successful without being significant but it is impossible to be significant without being success. This goes ahead to prove the fact that being significant is higher than being successful.

Why can’t I be significant without being successful? If it takes adding value to yourself to be successful and adding value to others to be significant, it simply means you cannot add value to others without first adding value to yourself. It is impossible to give what you do not have. Therefore it is of great importance that you add value to yourself to be successful, in order to be able to add value to others.

As important as being successful is, don’t stop at being successful, strive to be significant. Just being successful without being significant in life is not enough. That is not living life to the fullest.

There are three kinds of people living on earth today, those who waste their lives, those who spend their lives and those who invest their life. How do I know which class I fall into? It is very simple; this is the way to check it…

When you are unsuccessful = wasted life

When you are only successful = spent life

When you are successful + significant = invested life

It is of greater value to live adding value to the life of others. But this is the part of life that we hardly hear about. We have thousands of books teaching us how to be successful, lectures, seminars, motivational speakers all teaching on how to be successful but hardly will you hear or get a book teaching you how to be significant.

God created us all for a greater purpose, to live for a greater calling, to live for others and to make the world a better place than you meant it. God never created any of us just for ourselves. Living just for yourself is wasting the precious resources God deposited in you. Always know that the success and significant of others is tied to yours. You cannot afford to fail. Refuse to just stop your life at being successful. BE SIGNIFICANT!!!
