“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostle, men and brethren what shall we do?”- Acts 2:37

God has given some of his servant such tongues before. And since He is not a respecter of persons, would He not give you, ask him? Consider Peter at Pentecost and henceforth in all of the books of Acts. It sat upon him; it rested permanently on his heart and words. It went forth with each message. When the crowd was gathering to mock, they went away melted. They were glued to the message, until they melted under conviction. At his first message, three thousand souls were save (Acts 2:41). At his second message, five thousand soul believed (Acts 4:4) and later on, numerous soul were added that could not be counted (multitudes, Acts 5:14).

“I will give you a mouth and a wisdom, that none of you adversary would be able to resist or gainsay”

This was the promise of the master (an irresistible tongue). Cornelius and his entire house –hold could not move an inch, as they heard Peter. The fire of Pentecost fell on them too. Stephen who also rose to footprint of Peter (his discipler); preached with the same fire and got the same result. When men are converted by this tongue, they won’t turn around and backslide because they have been burnt. When a man is burnt, he will be the one to look for follow up. We must pray to cease from pursuing men after a crusade. Let them run after us because of the burning in their hearts.

Charles Finney said he noticed a kind of anointing that settled on his word and made it like barbed wire. To draw it out would mean draining blood.  He said anytime he noticed a reduction in that anointing, he cancelled all engagement and locked himself up until the anointed his back.

Men who secured this anointing arrived at it through prayer, ceaseless, earnest and purposeful prayer. They invested their time to secure this great pre-requisite for ministry, in prayer. They sought the Lord until heaven gave in to their cry.

After Thought: We are too satisfied with speaking in an unknown tongue today, but the apostles carried cloven tongue like as of a fire.

The day I long for, it draws near day by day. I can see it from afar. The hosts of heaven are getting set to appear on the judgment seat. The saints are wondering; the devil is walking to and fro because he knows he has a little time.

When will I appear before thee my father? I know if I miss heaven, I can’t miss hell. Lord help me to be faithful and righteous till this glorious day. I don’t want my name to be erased from the book of life. I desired not to be carried away by the gymnastic of ministry. Lord, show me what I need to be doing per time. I don’t want to be carried away by the applaud of man when heaven is weeping over my soul.

I now understand the saying in your word when you say “there is a great joy in heaven when a soul is saved”. The hosts of heaven are rejoicing because they understand the disaster and the turmoil in hell. An eternal condemnation in hell will not be my reward after my days on earth.

I hope to see Jesus in glory as he embraces me as His son that day. I want to see the mansions He has prepared for me. After He has given me different visions and revelation of hell and heaven, I know the one I desire and I can’t and won’t exchange it for anything. I desire to walk on that street made of gold when death is swallowed up in victory. I want to spend eternity with you my father and communing with you daily.

It will not catch me unaware, I refuse to slumber. I’m a pilgrim here on earth, I will set my gaze on the heaven my home where my father is to deliver unto me crown of glory.

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”- (Phi. 3:7-8)

The world has become so churchy and the church so worldly that it is hard to distinguish one from the other. The line of demarcation has been so completely broken down (like the wall of Jerusalem, Neh. 1:3). Where revival once flourished, whose spiritual life was at one time deep and strong, are today mere social centers over which God has long ago written the word “Ichabod” – “the glory has departed”

The only way to win others is to different ourselves and thus attract by something they lack. Separation has always been God’s standard. Abraham had to leave his country, and his father’s home, in complete separation he went where he knew not. Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the reproach of god than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; esteeming the reproach of God greater riches than the treasures of Egypt (HEB. 11:24-26).

Separation is still the call of God, “come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord” and, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers” (2 Cor 6:14-18). The world must be forsaken and separation maintained.

Enmity and hatred is the attitude of the world towards the true child of God (John 15:19). The evidence of the separation life lies in the attitude of the heart, not by actions alone, towards the world.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him” (1John 2:15)

“Ye adulterers and adulteress, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be friend of the world is the enemy of God” (James 4:4)

It is not hard to deny yourself something that you do not want.

“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy to me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37)

God does not want your money first, He wants you. He does not want your service first, he wants you, “They…. First gave their own selves to the Lord” (2 Cor. 8:5).

To get God’s best; we must give him our best. To become men and women after His heart we must let Him have our undivided attention.

After Thought: To win, we must surrender. To live we must die, to receive we must give.

“Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

And STRAIGHTWAY he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the son of God”- Acts 9:19-20.

Many are kicking off the ball of ministry without hearing the whistle to kick start. They engage in straightway ministry when God is saying;

“Arise, and go into the city, and IT SHALL BE TOLD THEE WHAT THOU MUST DO”- Acts 9:6.

Paul the apostle after he had an encounter on His way to Damascus, the last instruction God gave him was to go into the city and he would be told what to do. Out of curiousness he went ahead into the synagogues to preach, the question is “was he asked to preach?, who told him to preach?” He went into the SYNAGOGUES; meaning more than one.

Many have launched out into the ministry today as a result of the encounter they had but God is saying; “IT WILL BE TOLD THEE WHAT THOU SHOULD DO”. Blessed be the day you are called but more blessed is the day you are told what you should do. Many are pioneering ministries today when God has not asked them to.

A need does not equate a calling. There was a need for Paul to preach at that time but God has not called him yet to preach. He started with the straightway ministry which almost got him killed.

“And after the many day were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him”- Acts 9:24.

Jesus was going to the synagogue to learn for several years to learn, He didn’t start His ministry straightway. After thirty years when he was led into the wilderness, after fasting forty days and nights, after been tempted by the devil, after he returned in the power of the Spirit, it was recorded that he returned to the synagogue.

“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been BROUGHT UP: and AS HIS CUSTOM WAS, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read”- Luke 4:16.

So disappointing today that many don’t return to their synagogue after been called, they go straightway. Jesus returned to the synagogue where He was brought up and as His custom. He went into the synagogue; He didn’t start outside the synagogue. Going into the synagogue was still His custom even after He was baptized in Jordan and a voice from heaven confirmed His call.

“And THERE WAS DELIVERED UNTO HIM the book of the prophet Esaias, And when he opened the book, he found the place where it was written”- Luke 4:17.

Jesus got the final word that launched him into His ministry in the synagogue. It was in the synagogue the scripture was delivered unto Him where He found the word that authenticated His call.

“But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down”- Acts 13:14.

Paul after returning from his training at Tarsus did not go straightway again, he returned to the synagogue. The Jews that intended to kill him when he went straightway followed him when he returned and desired that he comes to preach the next Sabbath. (Acts 13:43-44).

“Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

Then had the churches REST throughout all Judaea and Galilee, and WERE EDIFIED; and walking in the FEAR OF THE LORD, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied”- Acts 9:30-31.

After Paul was sent to Tarsus, it was recorded from the text that there was rest throughout the towns, they were edified, walked in the fear of God, they were in comfort and they were multiplied. The result of a man going straightway deprived the company of the disciples rest, multiplication, edification and comfort. Many ministries are not in rest, comfort, are not walking in the fear of the Lord, are not multiplied and not edified because the founder went straightway.

After Thought: After Paul started on a straightway ministry, he had to be sent to Tarsus until the appointed time. Tarsus can be our local church where we can learn and have our training as regard our call. Have you started as a straightway minister? Tarsus is beckoning on you. Return that it will be told thee on what to do.

“For we are to God, the fragrance of Christ among those who are being save and those that are perishing”- 2 Cor. 2:15.

Every one that comes around us should be able to get an aura of Jesus both the saved and the perishing. They should be able to perceive solutions to their problems, get their healings, breakthroughs and success. Holiness, love should emanate from our lifestyle. I will like to paraphrase a quote by my mentor, Pastor Sunday Adelaja; “If you are looking for Jesus, don’t go far, come and see me because He lives in me, as He is so am I. If you are looking for hope, come around me, Christ in me the hope of glory. If you are looking for righteousness, come to me, I am the righteousness of God”.

Beloved, you may say am speaking an aberration but search the scriptures, Christ has paid all for us to be a solution to all the needs of mankind. May God open our eyes to see all that He has freely given to us. I desire daily to walk in the fullness and understanding of all that Christ died for me to have on earth. My whole being seems to open up towards Him and my heart cries; “Lord, make this real by thy grace in my life so men who see me will see you, so I can say, perhaps not in words alone; He that hath seen me hath seen the master”. That I will be in you and you in me; that I will grow up in you in all things, having your full stature in wisdom, power, righteousness, grace and authority. Sorry friends, I was lost in His presence again communing with Him forgetting that I am writing this piece. May this transform your heart condition.

“I am scared that when I get to the judgment seat and there are a billion people looking on me that God will say to me; “son I had many things to tell you, but you couldn’t bear them. You weren’t grown up enough”

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and PERCEIVED that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled and took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus”- Acts 4:13.

The people around the apostle perceived the aura of Jesus emanating from them and they took note. They saw their boldness, they saw the healings, miracles, signs and wonders they did through the name of Jesus. They concluded that Christ actually lives in them. The people took note of the apostle because of the healing of the impotent man. Can people perceive healing virtues around us when they come in contact with us? Jesus on earth carried the aura of the anointing that demons afar off could perceive it and they were crying out. Apostle Paul walked in this realm that the lady possessed with the spirit of divinity could not resist the fragrance. Remember, these signs follow those that believe in the name of Jesus. It is as simple as saying if people don’t smell these (love, healing, peace, salvation, deliverance e.t.c.) around you; it means your faith is questionable.

A Recent account comes to my mind; I was opportune to teach an extension class in the secondary school I graduated from. On a particular day, I got to the class and observed a student denying me pleasantries as usual while others did. I saw her head placed on the table with her hijab (muslim head tie), I called her name and she looked at me. She was very weak and pale, the class exclaimed that she has been sick and spent the whole of the day in the sick bay, she was only waiting to try and attend my class alone for the day. They said they told her to go home but she refused, insisting she wished to attend my class (may be because of my model of teaching). I called her again, I saw her eyes as red as a patient with conjunctivitis and it was as if I eye balls was about to come out of the socket. I told her not to worry that am around and told her to come; others couldn’t look at her eyes.

When she move closed to me, I was moved with compassion. I told her to smile and look straight to my eye balls; she did as instructed and went back to her seat. In less than 8 minutes, I called her and she turned to me, her eye balls were cleared up and the whole class marveled at the happening. I asked her if she was healed; she said yes and I proceeded by asking what happened to her, quoting her verbatim, she said “UNCLE, YOU KNOW YOU ARE CLOSE TO GOD”.

“And the Lord called Samuel again the third. And he arose and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli PERCEIVED that the Lord had called the called”- 1 Samuel 3:8.

Eli perceived the call of God upon Samuel. Can our mentors and people around us perceive that we are actually call by God? Or it seems as if to them that we are cooking up stories. Some end up frustrating people with their call. Some time ago, I was discussing with my Pastor at the zonal headquarters (R.C.C.G). He said something that I took note of. He said “David, having the privilege to be under your ministration once and the way you approach life, if I don’t know anything about you, the only thing I know and that am sure if is that God has called you, I am convinced about that”.

Many are afraid to tell people around them they are called because they know they don’t smell good. Samuel wasn’t afraid to meet Eli, he knows somebody was calling him. Jesus wasn’t afraid to tell the people and the Pharisees He was the son of God and the sent Messiah. One of my beloved brothers in the Lord whom I respect so much not only because of His age, also because of the values and virtues God deposited in him by His grace sent me a piece and wrote this behind it;

“There are some young people that are already leading men; they need to be afforded respect. You are one of them”.

Another friend of mine gave me some advice lately and ended it with this;

“Personally, I see a mighty grace upon you and with the little I have known about you, this grace manifests more in your yieldedness and surrendering”.

Ink won’t permit me if I continue to write these prospects. Am not writing this to sing my praise or blow my own trumpet because I don’t deserve these appraisals, it is His grace that has found me. This grace is still helping me to press on day by day because what is ahead is greater than what I have in our disposal, all glory to God. I would have loved to appreciate this people by their names because they mean a lot to me but I believe they would read this article some day and they would know am addressing them. My confidence is the call of God upon my life, I know the one who has called me as not forsaken me but;

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

I press toward the mark for the prize of high calling of God in Christ Jesus”- Philippians 3:12-14.

Great is the commission delivered to you; great are the heavenly visions you have seen; great are the deposits of the Holy Spirit in you; great is the ministerial offices or position you occupy. Great is the biblical school you attended. Great are the impartations you received from the people, word and the Holy Spirit. However, greater is the time those virtues begin to attend the need of people as the fragrance of Jesus is perceived around you.

“And she said unto her husband, behold now, I PERCEIVED that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually”- 2 Kings 4:9.

It was the fragrance from Elisha the Shunemite woman perceived that made her get the solution to her problem. There are many destitute around us, many people that are desperate for an answer to their problems. They haven’t gotten the answer yet because they haven’t smelled the solution from you that will attract them to come closer to you.

After Thought: the creatures are in earnest expectation of your manifestation; they are subjected to vanity, they groan and travail in pain for the glorious liberty of the children of God to deliver them from the bondage of corruption (Romans 8:19-22).

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him”- Psalms 34:8.

Our God taste good, in His sauce lies the spices of salvation, healings, deliverance, prosperity, miracles and so on. He makes us in His image so we are to taste like Him. Our taste should be able to invite as many as possible to the Lord’s table; enough of we presenting a tasteless God to people. God has made the invite to everyone to come and give Him a taste but He can’t come down from heaven to convince men. He gave us the responsibility to present this taste to those around us.

“Is there iniquity in my tongue? Cannot my taste discern perverse things”- Job 6:30.

The taste board of the world is hyper-active, they know and can discern what taste good or bad. Many believers taste bad, when an unbeliever approaches them; what they taste is greed, selfishness, envy, anger, lust and other dead works. They have allowed these pollute their sauce; they have replaced God’s ingredients of love, healing, salvation with dead works. Many a time, our so called pastors have been a stumbling block many are not saved in the church because they taste bad. Imagine a pastor preaching about giving and a widow in the church has children she can’t afford to send to school and the pastor encourages her with this word “have faith, the Lord will surprise you soon” when his own children attend a multi-million school. Another scenario that comes to mind is seeing a pastor going for a particular programme in his exotic car and sees on the road other members going for the same programme and refuses to pick them along. What a bad taste, that man is sticking even when alive!

That a man discusses how a food tastes does not mean he can present a tasteful food. That you preach about rightful living does not mean you are living right. Also, that your message or sermon is tasteful does not mean you taste good because God confirms His words and His word taste good.

“How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth”- Psalms 119:103.

It is only when a man feels his own taste that he can be tasteful to others. No wonder when we prepare our delicacies, we first taste it before offering others. When Isaiah saw the way the angels were crying holy, holy, holy, he then saw his own filthiness. He no longer saw the congregation, he saw himself as a man that needs to taste holy. A food that tastes good does not beg men to take more of it; you automatically desire more of it. Likewise, a man that tastes good does not beg for attention or ministration. Jesus tasted good; no wonder multitudes followed him from town to town. John the Baptist was in the wilderness yet the people wanted a taste from his life. People care less about where a food is prepared, what they care more about is how the food tastes. In the same vein, people don’t care about where you are or where you are from, what they care about is what and how you taste.

You can be a minister in a city and taste bad while someone can taste good in the village yet the people would look for him. The people left the synagogues in the city to look for John the Baptist in the wilderness. It is not posters and adverts you need to be relevant, what you need is to taste good and give the people around you a taste of Christ.

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savour, where with shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men”- Matthew 5:13.

Our savour is gotten from our savior; in Him are all the ingredients we need to taste. God has called everyman to give taste to this tasteless world but if we lose our taste by disconnecting from His presence, we are good for nothing and thus useless. What we need to taste good dwells in His presence. When we are in His presence, something robs on us. Ingredients are dropped into our lives and we come out tasting as the best delicacy to meet the need of mankind. When God cooks us in His presence, everyone comes to smell the aroma.

After Thought: whatever it will cost you, never lose your taste.

In 1886, Doctor John Pemberton, a pharmacist from Atlanta, Georgia, created the first batch of coca-cola. Dr. Pemberton concocted the formula in a three legged brass kettle in his backyard. Frank Robinson, Peterton’s book keeper gave the name coca-cola. Coca-cola was sold to the public at the soda fountain in Jacob’s pharmacy in Atlanta. It is the world famous drink; more than 1.6 billion servings of coca-cola are consumed every day in more than 200 countries. It has been in business for well over 100 years, employing nearly 100,000 people around the world.

It has been concluded, statistic has shown that the rationale behind the impact of coca-cola is simply because “it tastes good”. This secret became the watchword that granted it trademark in touching more lives.

The bone of contention is, “is Christianity touching up to this mark?” it has been observed 150 thousand people die without Christ daily. Every time you breathe, someone without Christ struggles and sinks into darkness alone without hope and without Christ. If 1.6 billion people daily are longing to be refreshed with a bottle of coca-cola, why can’t billions long to come to the knowledge of Christ daily? If Jesus hasn’t reached the world, this brings me only to one conclusion, “our Christianity haven’t taste good over 2,000 years.

Recent statistic shows that Islam is the fastest growing religion. Even in my country Nigeria, statistic tells me that the country is dominated with 50% Muslims, 40% Christians and 10% traditionalists. The question is; “does the 40% even taste good?” going through the world encounter some years ago, I discovered countries with 99% Muslims. Even those countries that claimed not to be Muslims with higher percentage comes with divisions; some claim to be Catholics, Jews, Judaist and very few are actually Christians (traditionalists such as Buddhists excluded).

I like to let you know that there are some countries that have not heard about Christ. I was told even here in Nigeria that there are some areas dominated with traditionalist with little or no knowledge about Christ. Coca-cola has its trademark and employers across nations. According to John Maxwell, only one out of every ten people entering the ministry today will still be in it at age of 65. That’s a 90 percent dropout rate. Dr. James Dobson estimates that there are some 1,500 ministers a month leaving the ministry. If the body of Christ continues to hemorrhage at this rate, we’ll soon be the laughing stock of the world, not to mention the evil hordes of darkness. As it appears now, the devil certainly seems to have gained upper hand. Daily, it seems, we hear of another “fallen soldier”, someone dropping out of the faith. On the other hand, coca-cola’s company is everyman’s dream job. I remember when preparing for my industrial attachment as an undergraduate, some of my colleagues desired to work at coca-cola’s bottling company. How many people desire to forgo everything for God to take the ultimate employment of refreshing the world with the taste of Jesus.

The last advert that gave coca-cola an unusual publicity that stormed the world says “share a coke with someone”. I believe this should also be our goal, “SHARE JESUS WITH AT LEAST SOMEONE A DAY”. No believer is stranded at any time; you always have a taste of Jesus to share per time.
