WHOM SHALL I SEND; GREAT MAN FOR A GREAT TASK
Go does not call the qualified, He qualifies the call. Many have out-run God on their qualification of His call upon them. There are many half-baked preachers and teachers of the word, half-cooked prophets and half-done prophet. No man can be completely cooked by God and not be completely broken. It takes a broken man to break men. As cooking implies in its ordinary sense, completely cooked meals are completely broken.
“Then said I, woe is me for I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips, for mine eyes have seen the king, the Lord of hosts”. -Isaiah 6:3
Isaiah, the heavy-weight champion prophet of his time believed from Isaiah chapter one to five that he is qualified as a prophet of God. Oh Lord my God! Show me via revelation my spiritual status. This should be our prayer as an anointed of God. What a disappointment in Isaiah chapter six, when he saw the Lord, his previous prophecies “woe to the nations” changed to “woe to me”. He agreed that he was a man of unclean lips in the midst of a people of unclean lips. Oh like our modern church, living dead people in a dead church with a dead preacher. From Isaiah 2:2, Isaiah has earlier saw the word of God, “seeing the word alone may not give you the right knowledge of your spiritual status”. Many read the word and misinterpret it to justify their state and action. There is need to be in spirit and seek revelation for an eye-opener.
I was bewildered from Isaiah chapter 6:8, when the Lord asked “whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” I wondered if the Lord did not see the presence of the prophet, he was not seen to be qualified, many are preaching today and God does not really recognize them. Remember many are called, few are chosen, it is the chosen that are really recognized in heaven. Don’t celebrate your call, thirst to be chosen by being completely cooked by God.
“For I have not sent them, saith the Lord, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye and the prophets that prophesy unto you” -Jeremiah 27:15.
“For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.” -Jeremiah 29:9
The perishing church has prophets that are not sent by God, they come as wolves in sheep clothing prophesying in the name of God. It’s time for the church to be alert and sharpen her discernment. Wake up! O ye sleeping church, don’t allow your slumber rob you and deprive you of heaven. Now a thin line has been drawn among the call, the chosen, the sent and half-done. The question is where are you Mr. Preacher and Mr. Prophet? Does God know you and recognize you in heaven? Can He also say to you “I know thee by name (Exodus 33:17)” and “I have surnamed thee (Isaiah 45:4)”.
“The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? Saith the Lord.” -Jeremiah 23:28
Tell it to the whole world the coming vengeance of God and the true word of God, speak the word faithfully, be God-fashioned, God-filled and God-fired. Go to God’s university of silence where John the Baptist was trained. God takes all His great men there.
Jesus said “Go ye” but He also said, “Tarry until!” let any man shut himself up for a week with only bread and water with books except the Bible, with no visitor except the Holy Ghost, and I guarantee, my preacher brethren, that man will either break up or break through and out. After that, like Paul, he will be known in hell.
“The man whose little sermon is ‘repent’ sets himself against his age, and will for the time being be battered mercilessly by the age whose moral tune he challenges. There is but one end for such a man- ‘off with his head’. You had better not try preach repentance until you have pledged your head to heaven” – Joseph Parker. Repentance is change of mind about God, about sin and about hell. John the Baptist was in God’s school of silence, the wilderness, until the day of his showing forth. In his eyes was the light of God, in his voice was the authority of God; and in his soul was the passion of God; I ask, could be greater than John? Truly “he did no miracle” that is, he never raised a dead man, but he did far more, he raised a dead nation. John was great, great eagles fly alone; great lions hunt alone; great soul walk alone with God. Such loneliness is hard to endure and impossible to enjoy unless God-accompanied.
John was a “voice”. Most preachers are only echoes, for if you listen hard, you will be able to tell what latest book they just read and how little of the book they quote. To reach the masses we need a voice- a heaven-sent prophet to preach to preachers!
Brethren, we have equipment but not enduement; commotion but not creation; action but not unction; rattle but not revival. We are dogmatic but not dynamic.
This generation of preachers is responsible to this generation of sinners. Just as Moses could not mistake the sight of the burning bush, so a nation could not mistake the sight of a burning man! God meets fire with fire. The more fire in the pulpit the less burning in hell fire. An automobile will never move until it has been ignition fire; so men are neither moved nor moving because they think they have everything except fire.
Our dear preachers used to pray; they say “I do not pray as much as I used to, but the dear Lord understands”. Hmmm! He understands all right, but he does not excuse us because we are busier than He wants us to be. Remember this saying as inspired of me by the Holy Ghost as am in tears to write this; “physical stature is never equivalent to spiritual status” and “individual availability is not equal to spiritual stability”.
We tend to be more concerned to perform our part creditably than we are about God’s mighty involvement in our efforts and ministry. O Lord my God, sanctify me by the fire of your holiness, my heart desires this, that you may purge me of my wrong motive towards your work. We tend to be more hungry for success than we are for God’s empowerment. Remember, “human loudness of voice is not equivalent to the power of the Spirit” and “we cannot be trained to be anointed or empowered”. We cannot accomplish God’s full purpose on memories of past blessing and empowerment. In fact, we can’t minister today in yesterday’s anointing or empowerment. As Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit (Luke 4:14). There is need for re-firing, even our dear saviour on earth as to return to the mountain daily to get the anointing for the day on the altar of prayer. Many are concerned that their heads should be filled than their heart to be fired. Oh! Breath upon precious redeemer.
